I built my first telescope in 1974, parts from edmund scientific. I remember sending off and getting telescope catalogs from different companys. I still have my 1975 catalog from cave. I dreamt of having one. If anyone is interested in this catalog let me know. I am still amazed at the quality of even their pictures.
