This is an old photo of my "home built" 5" f15 refractor that I put together in 1968. The lens is an Edmund Scientific and is a lot better than one might expect! The drive corrector, also home made, is pictured below, but has long expired. I've recently moved to Sydney, Australia. Before moving I had the scope refinished and purchased new mounting hardware for the 3" refractor and finder. I have also fitted the scope with a 24" dovetail mounting system and plan to modify the Cave so it will fit. The original saddle will not allow rotation of the scope, and also destroyed the paint on the tube whenever the scope was removed or replaced. Unfortunately during the move the large counter weight has been lost. Hopefully I can find another. In the worst case I will have to have a new one manufactured. I'm not entirely sure what I shall do about the 60 cycle synchronous motor here in the land of 240 volt, 50 hz...
When I complete the restoration I shall post some new photos. The one shown was taken around 1980 in Santa Barbara.
